He started his work as a composer early with various titles for his own ensembles. Since 1981 he did numerous filmscores (incl. the academy award nominated feature film "Beyond Silence"). In 2003 he has an "additional music"-credit for the "Best foreign Language Movie" "Nowhere in Africa" by Caroline Link He composed orchestrates and conducts the score for now ca. 80 films. 1989 - 94 he was the bass player with Klaus Doldingers group Passport. He did various international tours with the following musicians: Charlie Mariano, Manfred Schoof, Michael Sagmeister, WDR Big Band, Maria Kliegel, Brian Auger, Alphonse Mouzon James "Blood" Ulmer, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Art Farmer, Bob Brookmeyer, Billy Cobham and Wolfgang Niedecken. 1995-99 he appeared as a solist with SWR Sinfonie Orchestra (conductor: Michael Giehlen) at the Salzburg Festspiele, the Berlinale, the Edinburgh Festival and in Paris, Cologne and New York (Carnegie Hall). Jochen Schmidt-Hambrock is married, has 2 kids and works in his own studio in the Bavarian Alps ( ) not far from Munich.
